Graphich Designing Software

The localization team of KhmerOS is now trying to test and get detail information about some graphic designing and desktop publishing software such as GIMP, Inkscape, Scribus and Quarkexpress. What we want to do in those applications are: - To understand the current status of Khmer Unicode support - To determine the problem of using Khmer Unicode - To solve the problem by discussing among our team and other people - To understand what need to be done to have those software translated Inkscape is an Open Source vector graphics editor, with capabilities similar to Illustrator, Freehand, CorelDraw, or Xara X using the W3C standard Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file format. Scribus is an Open Source desktop publishing software similar to Quarkexpress. The problem about Khmer Unicode rendering in Scribus is already submitted by Jens at GIMP is an GNU Image Manipulation Program similar to Adobe Photoshop. There is only a few problem. It does not work with the keys that produce two unicode characters but we can type the two components individually (e.g. ោ‍ះ can be typed as ោះ). The translation of this program is almost finished (needs thoroughly checking). GIMP, Inkscape and Scribus, can be run on Linux, Max OS X and Windows. For Quarkexpress, since it's not the open source software so we can not do much with it. What we can do is submit the request to Quark company to support Khmer Unicode (as mentioned by Nathan at You can help by testing the program and report here what you have found. Yes of cause, using the program once it is done is also considered as *helping* :-)
