Software that can handle

Linux

Working Linux applications are work in progress. Work is very recent and it is not yet included in the public versions of the different products.

  • Gnome and applications that use Pango. I will be fully integrated in version 1.8.2 of Pango. If you want to use it in earlier versions, a patch is available in our download page.
  • KDE and applications based on Qt. A new module is being integrated, but it already has some support for Khmer
  • Open Office 2.0 will have support for Khmer, if a bug that is bloquing all indic scripts is fixed.

Windows

If Khmer Unicode works in your computer (otherwise look here), the following programs will also work in Khmer Unicode in your computer:

  • Moyura 0.8 (using the code of Thunderbird 1.0)
  • Mekhala 0.8 (uses code from Firefox 1.0).
  • Mozilla Suite 1.5 and later versions
  • Chatzilla
  • Conical Hat Accounting
  • IMP
  • Squirrelmail
  • X-chat2
  • MS Publisher
  • MS Internet Explorer
  • MS Word (with some problems)
  • Adobe Pagemaker ??
  • Adobe Distiller (creation of PDFs that include Khmer)
  • Adobe Acrobat (displays Khmer Unicode correctly).
  • poEdit (PO file editor)
  • UltraEdit 10
  • EmEditor
  • Paratext 6.0

Programs that definitely do not work with Khmer Unicode (but do work with Khmer Legacy fonts) include:

  • MS PowerPoint
  • MS excel (does not sort in Khmer)
  • Adobe Design products (Photoshop 8.0, Illustrator 11)
  • Macromedia Freehand 11.
  • QuarkXPress 6.0
  • Eudora 6.0
  • Worldpad
